
The «La Mariscal» Innovation District is an ambitious initiative by the Municipality of Quito, led by the Secretariat for Productive Economic Development with the support of CONQUITO. Its goal is to create a favorable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The implementation of the «La Mariscal» Innovation District aims to transform this area of the city into a dynamic hub of creativity, technology, and innovation. The project seeks to enhance economic competitiveness, foster social cohesion, and revitalize the urban landscape, following successful examples from other cities in Latin America and around the world.

What is it?
An Innovation District is a defined geographic area within the city where entrepreneurs, businesses, universities, and the public sector work together to generate ideas, develop technology, and create opportunities. These are spaces designed to foster creativity, attract talent, and facilitate collaboration among the various actors of the ecosystem.

Prioritized Sectors
Around the world, innovation districts have emerged as strategic tools to boost city competitiveness, drive modernization, and consolidate innovation communities (Hubs and Clusters) in science, technology, and innovation-intensive industries and productive sectors.
According to the Global Institute for Innovation Districts, a nonprofit organization specializing in the study of innovation ecosystems, more than 150 cities worldwide are developing innovation districts. Many of these are driven by local governments in collaboration with the private sector, entrepreneurs, academic institutions, civil society, and investors.
In Latin America, several cities have successfully consolidated innovation districts, while others are in the process of development.
